I haven't been around in a while. I have had a whole lot of not much going on, with the exception of having carpal tunnel surgery on November 2, 2011.
These were taken the same day I had surgery. I recovered very well, and the scar is already barely showing. If my hands get cold it will stand out, or if I happen to bang it on something (which still hurts) it will show brighter red than the rest of my hand.
I am already well back into my knitting and other crafts, and am enjoying the lack of pain/numbness that used to go along with these activities!!
This blog is about the ups and downs in the life of an infertile couple as they strive to create their family. Nieces and nephews abound and are dearly loved, but sons and daughters are much harder to come by and strongly desired.

Car Accident
Saturday I was in a car accident. I was at fault, because I didn't see the other driver until the split-second before he hit me. I was turning left into a southbound lane and was hit by a northbound car. It was pouring down rain and the other driver did not have his lights on - though I got a rather close-up view of the headlight in that tiny moment before the collision. Neither of those things stopped me from getting a ticket for "failure to yield exiting a private drive" - where I'll come up with the money for that I don't know.
The accident could have been so much worse - thank God for a thick heavy door on my car!! As you can see, the side-view mirror is gone, as well as some trim on the rear quarter panel. The door has the worst of the damage - the front & rear quarter panels are dented but relatively intact. The window is gone in the door - it shattered and was all over me and spread out throughout the car - including along the back dash and in the pocket on the passenger side door.
I went directly to the ER via ambulance and was told that I have low back strain plus bumps & bruises and a few cuts. I see my PCP for a follow up on Wednesday. I'm hoping to start seeing a chiropractor later this week.
Ironically enough, this is the second time I've been in a serious accident less than a week before we're supposed to go visit Bree & Geoff, and during the month of August. The last time was four years ago right before Ren Fest - this time we're supposed to go to the Dream Cruise.

Today's Appointment
What a day, what a day.
I had an appointment this morning with my PCP because I have been having some abdominal pain. The doctor seems to think that it is a gallbladder problem, possibly stones. I had to have blood drawn and an ultrasound. The only problem was that for once, I had gotten up in time to eat breakfast, and the ultrasound required that I fast for 8 hours prior to having it done. So my small cup of fruit that I had for breakfast blew my entire day - I could not eat or drink anything until after my ultrasound, which was scheduled for 6pm. Which means that I finally got something to eat at around 7. I was STARVING!! Truth be told though, I was more thirsty than hungry.
Now I get to wait for the results. Since the technician is not allowed to give me any kind of a diagnosis, I don't know any more than I did before the ultrasound was performed.
